I was hurt and disgusted, I just blocked him. This is not someone who was ever even a friend to me.

Especially since he brought up the idea of boxes and not you. He was obviously angling for a quick profit.

And you get a lot of negative responses from male posters because to them, chivalry is dead. These are guys who would barge ahead of a woman to get into a door and let it shut in her face. Then they post all day long on Relationships wondering why women won't date them, won't sleep with them, etc.
Omg I feel you’re speaking my feelings. Wow I really couldn’t articulate it but this is it. Unfair advantage even after I extended business for him.

If it was me, I would just ask him. "Hey, I was just wondering why you charged me for these boxes when they have free ones at your work?"

Maybe he got you/your friend the "new" boxes, and those would cost money. Not the older, used, free ones.

I guess you could just ask him?

Seems like the reasonable explanation and solution.

Or we could just get mad over... boxes.

Be glad he is out of your life, he is a jerk.

When I told him I had to scrape money up for them, that would’ve been a good time to let me know all of my options for boxes, after I’ve expressed the situation, especially considering the fact the employee who assisted me explained that when a person seeks a moving job, the company will disclose all options for supplies, etc. he however did not.

That is strange. Is he generally a cheap person?

I wonder if his moving price was competitive or higher than others would charge. Did you check on that?

I still would seek an explanation from him.
