I was a 1 in grade school, 2 in high school, 2 1/2 in college and most days as an adult waver between 3 and 4. I can manage to be a 5 once or twice a year but it takes a lot of work.
Im still the ugly duckling that slightly resembles the Quaker Oats man.
Quack quack.

I was and still ugly. There's a few things I like that makes me prettier
I don't know about "ugly duckling", but I went through an "awkward phase" in middle school. I was teased for being smart (they called me "Dexter"), the only reason kids wanted to sit next to me was to copy off my tests, I wore sweaters that were monogrammed on top of shirts that were monogrammed (my Mom was a little over-the-top with monograms!!!!), so I had zero style. My hair wouldn't do that Farrah Faucett flip that was so popular in the early 80s, so it would just hang in a weird shaggy mess. I also was developing earlier than my peers, so while all the other girls were still 5 feet tall, stick thin in their Jordache jeans, and with perfectly winged hairstyles, I was towering over them (at 5'6! Sounds funny, now), with boobs. The seventh grade sucked!
In highschool, I got a social life, some cool friends, but I was always the "buddy". Guys didn't really see me as girlfriend material, until the leader of our group and I went out for a while, off and on, but when he moved away, it was back to being the "buddy".
In college is when things turned around for me. It was really fun to go back and see guys that would not even talk to me in highschool, suddenly asking for my number... and I would get to turn them down! HA!
Now I'm just... whatever. That old highschool/college crap only matters for so long.
I was invisible to girls until my senior year of high school. I was also very shy around girls when I was a teen, but then most teenage guys I new (aside from the cool kids) were as well.

I remember thinking I was absolutely hideous. Some time back I saw a couple of pictures and while I was clearly young and still developing, it's also apparent that I simply didn't know what I actually HAD.
The worst part back then was the awkwardness, not knowing how to handle social situations, being painfully shy -- I was so shy back then that if I had to speak in front of people I would literally begin to shake -- and a pretty girl? Fuhgeddaboudit!
