I'm 29 and its due to too much moving around (I've lived in about 20 locations in the last decade), not knowing what I wanted, alcoholism, and the fact that I respect myself and others too much to just have sex with anyone. There is more to it than that, but thats the short version.

Interesting. There is always more to it. Its always hard to explain cumulative effects. My father died just as I got out of college at about 25. In the middle of that I had career transition and spiritual doubts. I didn't want to drag anyone down with me, and I was not the sleeping around type. By the time it had worked its way out, I was pretty much out of touch with dating. It sounds so very familiar. I married at almost 35.

Yes. Its not gender its lack of people who aren't married thats the problem.

That sort of reminds me of some of those young teenage beer parties where the only girl there happens to be one of the guy's girl friends, and its about the beer. In other words, the reason why a woman is there is because of a man and it isn't you. Its a direct import. If I were in Alaska and I wanted company, I would be importing.

That thought has crossed my mind, but there are more problems with it than that. Its certainly not as easy as people make it sound and long distance relationships scare me as much as the idea of my parents living with me. I'm not sure what to do just yet. For the most part I'm about to the point of just giving up and finding other things to do instead of lean towards needing to be in a relationship or get married/have kids etc... I don't need those things as much as society (and my mom) tells me I do. Also I don't think I'm moving as I really, really like it here.
