This quote works perfectly for the modern american woman. For a guy in his twenties finding a woman to marry for money is not that easy, unless the woman is rich and is inheriting a lot of money.
I find it surprising to understand that men believe women, when they say they dont care about the guys money.Through marriage a woman is looking for a handyman, a provider and a person to talk to. She will do anything to get that. To seek a provider and a nesting place for her kids _is wired in a female.Once married a woman's interest in pleasing and wanes.
As for the wealthy geting married, most men want kids with a lady who they think is of the best stock.
Seeing men lose everything after divorce is really funny! If people do not have the guts to talk about a prenuptial with a woman before marriage, they surely deserve the high penalties that comes with divorce. Pity the modern man- nobody seems telling him life's truths.

It depends entirely on the person you marry. Compare Paul McCartney's two marriages.

[quote=mikejj2004;11126219]This is something I fundamentally don't understand. I have been going over the Forbes 400 and I have noticed that something like 97% are married, divorced or widowed and only 3% are single never married. As you do research on the people, person after person is involved in long drawn out, expensive divorce settlements. I'm not talking like boom bam were divorced but long drawn out affairs where the court gets involved and starts trying to audit how much money he has, disputes over possessions etc that get very bitter. Being as how
common it is, I have to ask why do rich men get married at all?[/quo

Why are married people more sucessful . Who knows really;all people are alike really. I think that a good marriage makes life so much easier and maybe they had good marriages.

Men dream of building an empire, particularly the rich.Children of your own is part of it. A happy family with kids is an appealing thing. As long as men cannot have kids without women this institution of marriage will last. Its part of passing on genes.

No you have it wrong. The question is why are a much higher percentage of "successful" people married?

Success = money and money attracts women.

People are usually "successful" because they come for a background with money. Go to the best schools. Get parachuted in at reasonable level to have a chance for the top - if they don't inherit the position.

Such men are targeted at every college by women - lost of eager ones. Staying single in such circumstances must be a real achievement! Probably the 12 singles are from the 30 of the 400 who actually completely earned their position at the top.
