Rare? Bwwahahahahaha...OMG that is so droll! It is not a rarity around here to be told that one is going to suffer and die and deserve it, just for what they believe. Atheists are told that all the time by many christ-worshippers here. It is nothing new.

My suggestion? Sack up. It's just an internet forum for gods' sake.

I don't even know what you are arguing about, nor do I care. However, I don't have to explain to you why atheists get that lecture from Christians. It's their mission as instructed by Jesus Christ. Now, why someone would tell them they DESERVE eternal punishment is out of line to me and NOT christian like. EVERYONE deserves a chance.

Get a clue...what their 2000-year-old Jewish dude with a messianic complex told someone who told someone else who told someone who wrote it down decades later doesn't concern us and we're tired of hearing it. They want us to play nice? Then they should stop shoving their fables in our faces.

You are on a Religion and Philosophy forum and I have seen you on the Christianity board.

juj say:
If you don't want to get hit by a car, don't take a walk on the interstate.

And that's non-religious advice.

I only go to the christianity board when there is something particularly egregious posted that has popped to the top of the "last posting" list. Can't avoid seeing it then, so sometimes I comment on the really crazy threads in there. The reason I post in the R&P forum is because religion affects my life every day in a negative way, so I have a vested interest in trying to squash the odious tidal wave of religious fecal matter in the world.

I have religion in my life and doesn't affect me in a negative way at all. On the contrary, I like it. It ultimately brings peace and accountability to those who TRULY follow the tenets. There are nut job religious and nut job atheists. It's like the old t-shirt: Guns don't kill people, people kill people (or I kill people). It always gets back to the stability and character of the user of said philosophy. I am Catholic and, I believe, well grounded.

When a Theist says that some people should, "suffer and die and deserve it, just for what they believe", it is a repeat of doctrine/dogma. I mean, they're "deluded", and have been "brainwashed", according to you Atheists, right?!
If an Atheist says it...it comes just from THEM, and the way they PERSONALLY THINK.

THAT'S the difference!
You're cutting yourself with your own sword.

You guys are "free thinkers", right?
And that's what his "free thinking" leads him to think?! What a nice guy! He could "pinch hit" for Evil Biblegod or Satan.

And the "sack up"--Tell ya what...take your own suggestion, instead of constantly posting about how "evil" religion is.

Juj, a 1000 rep points for you, mister.

Nobody could have said it better.

Thank you for the kind words. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

Well you're not going to do it. Religion, even including extremist forms, is going to exist. It exists even in Sweden. Atheism is also going to exist, even in some place like Mali or Nigeria, so squashing it outright is a fools errand.

If you are really intent on squashing ways of thinking you find irrational or harmful than in many ways you might be the dangerous one. Because the freedom to believe in even dumb things is an important freedom. If Russia hadn't had the Imiaslavie or "Name-Worshippers", and their mystical beliefs even I find a tad strange, certain advances in set theory may not have occurred. Allowing people to think or feel in different ways than oneself can be useful. If you can't tolerate that than I think talking religion at you might be bad, but listening to or supporting you might be equally bad.
