It makes no sense. Plenty of the irreligious are raised that way.
I remember when my kids were young, they would share the school bus with non-religious students, who would poke fun at God and Jesus, call Him all sorts of names and profanities.
But that is all they knew.
Should they burn in Hell for eternity, if they never discover Jesus as adults?
I think not, and God should give them all the benefit of the doubt.
Christians' beliefs are so contradictory. If God is love, and loves all of his "children", then how could he cast one out for non-belief? especially if that person was raised in a hell hole and was abused and neglected, and especially since this "child" of his never had a choice in being born in the first place? Many christians believe is that person, who is haunted all his life due to his terrible childhood, commits suicide to escape the pain then they are automatically cast out and sent to hell for eternity.
How could a logically thinking person even entertain such a contradictory belief? And how could anyone worship such a horrible, treacherous creator that would do such a thing?
Another massive contradiction is the idea of free will. They believe that God gave us free will to accept or reject him. Where is this free will when we are being born? what choice did we have to come into existance? and where is this free will concerning the circumstances we are born and raised into? none of this is free will, this is all luck of the dice, or "God's path" that they also believe in. The idea of a God's path, or plan for each of our lives, is not consistant with the concept of free will. Huge contradiction that they simply ignore.
I think many christians had cushy Christian upbringings and so it makes it very easy to belive in all this hooey. However, the fact that many people suffer miserable childhoods turns the equation of letting them burn in hell upon death upside down. What it really means is these christians accept a huge contradiction because they lack empathy, and are blinded by their own experience and so cannot look at the situation in it's entirety with logic.
Bill Burr is right, at some point as adults one needs to logically think through the teachings of christianity and make decisions based on logic and fairness what to believe or not.
Why is it your job as an atheist to bother about Christianity at all, why do you care? Do you also care about Islam and Hinduism?
It is the concern of all of us as it is the story we have been sold almost Universally in the west over the last 1000 years. And in the USA it is the last place and the most dangerous place. This is your future and everyone elses' and to say it isn't your business is the same as waving away the environment, population, health - in fact everything. And that is either criminally irresponsible of faith - based. Give up responsibility and say God's going to sort it all out. And that's criminally irresponsible, too.
Hinduism is hardly a problem. Islam is. But the solution is the one that the atheists are pushing. The Christian 'solution' just makes matters worse.
Jesus taught---Few will find the road. He wasn't kidding.
Rather, a Few told themselves that they were the Elite who had 'found the road'. And they invented a Jesus saying so, to prove it. The original fake News.

No one knows if they are actually saved. One must endure until their end living now to do Jesus Fathers will. None know if they will accomplish that. They assume they can.

I notice you say "they". I was asking about you.
Come on now. Your christian ego tells you you're one of the special ones. Right?

Like I say - a Financial scheme where you pay in but you have no guarantee of them paying out. It's a beautiful swindle.

Why must anyone of us do anything? none of us asked to be born. The deal starts raw from the git go.
