So who here actually lives up to all of god's commands?! I know of a few who sure think they do....but...we all know that no one is perfect (according to that book called the bible).
I work from a perspective based more in Christian tradition and not solely on the Bible. From that perspective I would say they only go to Hell if they are clearly sinful from a basis of natural reason, etc. For example if they hate other people and act on that.
Outside of that there are a couple theories.
One is that the Holy Spirit, or John the Baptist, appears to such people at the moment of death and gives them their choices. (This is more the Eastern Orthodox view as I understand it)
The other is that they are protected by invincible ignorance. (Catholic view)
By not knowing Christ they're life is poorer in some sense. They have to simply rely on reason and life experience, without anything greater. But God's mercy means they are not separated for eternity from him unless they actively choose such a thing. At least this is my understanding.
As for "you all have so many ideas on salvation" I believe Christ once likened himself to a doctor.
Now you secularist I'm sure have many different ideas on what diet or medicine creates a healthier life. Does that mean all diet or medicine is bunk? The different Christians are maybe like that. Different ways of interpreting a "medicine."
BTW: I'm a pretty sinful person in some ways and I'm not a theologian so I don't want people to get the wrong ideas. I've just read and pondered on different religions.
No matter what translation you read, no one can stand before God and say "I didn't know". He will make a way for everyone to know Him.
So you say, but the fact is that you can't use Paul to support your contention that God put knowledge of Him in our hearts. even if Paul's opinion carried any weight. Paul is arguing that evidence should convince us. I agree with that and paul's evidence ads up to no more than yours. There is no good evidence for God and your threats of divine judgment are hollow.
