DENVER – The auditorium lights turned low, the service begins with the familiar rhythms of church: children singing, hugs and handshakes of greeting, a plea for donations to fix the boiler.

Then the 55-year-old pastor with spiked gray hair and blue jeans launches into his weekly welcome, a poem-like litany that includes the line "que*r or straight here, there's no hate here."

Evangelical church opens doors fully to gays - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_rel_gay_affirming_church - broken link)

I guess this is somewhat promising, considering what we are dealing with.

It is a sign of Machiavellianism. You can bet that the GLBT population will be transformed - brainwashed from the inside out.

Many younger people do not have the ignorant homophobia of their parents and are more concerned with social justice. The rantings of some ministers against gays is exactly the same hateful messages I heard going on when I was a kid - from churches - about African Americans.

Makes sense. When one moves beyond the division and hate that afflicts many churches, they find a Christ who protected a prostitute from being stoned.

Their motives may be suspect, but it's a step toward unity, which is precisely what Christ teaches them to do.

The Bible is painfylly clear about it. Homosexuality and Christianity are incompatibe. The gays can go to that church, but the spirit of Christ will stay away from there. I don't know why they even bother calling it a church.

I think Christianity and all sin are compatible. Is that not the fuction of a church, to accept sinners and help them to live more like Christ?...

Even Christians that are "born again" strive to live their lives in the word...Accepting Christ into your life, is not an automatic guaranty that you will never sin again.

Church is for sinners...If you can live your daily life without sin, then you're JCII.
