On Mother's Day, my younger sister and I exchanged our traditional Mothers' Day greetings from those of us whose best gift to our children was not to have any. That's meant to be a positive message. Yes, we know that having children and raising them well is a special privilege. And we salute mothers who can do that. And we also salute women who choose to give up that privilege, so as not to propagate the baggage.

Indeed! I salute all people, men and women, who have the self-awareness to realize that they would not be good parents. Apparently that's a rare quality. So much abject suffering would be eliminated if that quality were more widespread.
Yes, I agree. And having been in child welfare for a long career, I saw way too many women who never gave it a thought. Just went ahead, got pregnant (some multiple times), yet never really knew how to nurture and raise a child, and never really cared. It's the biggest, worst reason why so many young adults do not have any sense of real caring in my opinion. If they never were cared for by their parents, how can they care for others? The cycle just goes on and on.
The child abuse statistics in my state (as well as others) are astounding. And the foster parents who try to help these children in their own homes, never get properly rewarded sometimes. Again, just my opinion.
90's in FL too, hot even here for this time of year. We are finally getting rain, it's been extremely dry with weeks of 0-10% chance of rain. I made a sparkling water fresh ginger-turmeric syrup lemonade poured over ice after dinner. So refreshing on a hot day!
Since we are heading into the rainy season soon, a trip a nursery tomorrow to get a clumping giant timber bamboo for the yard is planned. I've gotten bamboo and plants at this nursery before and love the place and the owners. It's out in the boonies and has full grown stands of bamboo to wander through, making it easy to get an idea of height and diameter of different species. They have classical music going and sculptures here and there. They carry oddball plants that other nurseries usually don't carry. I'll see if they have some turmeric plants, the fresh roots were pretty pricey at the local Sprout's.

Happy Armed Forces Day ! Thank you to those who served and are serving our country !
I'm ready for a nap! The kids, grandkids, other grands and the two of us met at Bonefish Grill for brunch around 10. We had such a good time and I suspect Bonefish lost money on us with their Endless Bubbly. Midway through, an elderly woman stopped by our table to remark on how well behaved the grandchildren were and that she felt the need to let us know how impressed she was. She left behind six beaming adults and two oblivious children on her way out.
