She had a lot of her fellow residents turn out to protest her arrest, but , unfortunately, they couldn't remember why they were there !

There are laws against public sex. There are probably still adultery laws on the books that are unenforced.

I don't see why they don't just take their activities behind closed doors.

Florida is steamy AND hot. That's why.
