I applaud your excellent health. I live in a senior building & there is one woman who just reached 90. She still goes to bingo every Tuesday & walks the halls twice a day to keep in shape. So age is not the issue as much as health.
Our local forecast last night paid tribute to a lady who was celebrating her birthday - 102. She said she sometimes lies about her age. (She could; I don't think she looked that old) She admitted she's hoping to make it to 110.
I still find it interesting that the centenarian-wishers outpace the I don't care's 2 to 1. Those two figures are interesting to me.
In my family, my mother, MIL, MIL's mother, FIL, FIL's mother, and sister's FIL all made it into their 90s. FIL teaches class at senior ctr. None of them ever "took care of themselves," never exercised much at all, ate the typical supermarket fare including junk foods and lots of alcohol. I am more convinced than ever that one's lifespan is simply in the genes.

This poll will close in 3 days.
I agree with you newenglandgirl! I'm thinking now about my soon-to-be 58 y/o nephew, did everything right, stayed slender, rode a bike for miles and miles, swam, ate right (tofu), etc. Now with intestinal cancer. Had surgery but surgeon couldn't remove all of the tumor. The usual choices, none, chemo, radiation.
I know the pain of losing parents and family. The longer I can delay that for others the better.
I have grand kids to see grow up and great grands to be born and flowers and oceans. Why would I want to check out. Oh yeah and meals to enjoy. Grilled the best steak yesterday. Gotta love Costco and oh yeah as long as someone will take me there viva life!
I had a conversation with some friends my age about how long they'd like to live, ideally, assuming decent health. So...assuming decent health, what is your longevity wish?
What's yours?
I find few things more annoying than OPs who ask questions that they, themselves, don't answer at the outset.
BTW, I don't care how long I live as long as I'm in good health and know who I am.
The poll closes tomorrow eve 8:24 EST. It's probable the %'s will not have changed at the closing. It's impressive how many want to live to 100, with or without the $ resources. I guess because I've dealt with so many 90-somethings in my family and extended family (and know too well the issues) I would not want to be in that group, if I have any say. Thanks everyone for responding.
The poll closes in a few hours. Thanks, everyone, for voting and commenting. Of the 38 who wish/plan to live to 100, please post your location so I can tell my kids and grands to avoid driving in your area.
