The heck with the septic, my hemorrhoids come first! Soft is the name of the game. On the other hand I do try to time the use of the toilet to times I take a shower. That way I don't have to use extensive amounts of TP and I feel cleaner because of the shower.

TMI (don't you think, everybody??)

Try eliminating meat for a few weeks. Go vegan for a short while and watch those roids recede.
You can switch over to 1 ply when pain is no longer the issue (and your septic will thank you).

Whole grains like brown jasmine rice instead of white rice..whole wheat pasta not white.
Life will change for the better. Aaaaah! No more pain.

Then, if you want, go back to eating meat and white bread.. see what happens.
(Yes, you'll be calling the honeypot truck more often..)

Good luck.. nobody wants to live in pain.

Nah. Diet changes to vegan don't work for everyone (those who do get relief should be thankful) and other conditions can cause bleeding. I don't doubt your system works for you and others, but people with other issues can find that choice problematic, at best.

I use Rid-X —- I’ve been using it every 4-6 weeks, in every home I’ve lived in, since the 1980’s and I have never had a septic problem.

https://www.rid-x.com/

That means from the perspective of this thread, it doesn’t matter what I use but from my personal perspective, it’s either Charmin or Angel Soft.

Now that's funny right there. I don't care who you are.

I keep a pot of sourdough and discard some down the sink every once in a while and never had an issue with my septic. I love Scotts too...a roll seems to last me longer than any other brand, even when I use a lot.

What I learned from living in the RV world is that you can test the toilet paper: Put 3 or 4 squares in a jar of water, like about a quart jar, and shake it to see how it dissolves. You can this way even compare two to see which breaks down the best. Angel Soft and Scott both break down, but the Great Value one, the softer one breaks down really well, and we have been using that.

Hemorrhoids: I don't have them, but the Great Value soft toilet paper, and Hyland's homeopathic for hemorrhoids might help the "situation". https://www.hylands.com/products/hylands-hemorrhoids I know two people that have had success with that homeopathic preparation. I totally support homeopathy as the way to go, "do no harm".

I fully believe that homeopathic medications are a scam. But I also believe, that if the user believes in them, they might get the relief that the supposed medication promises.

As far as hemorrhoids go the hydrocortisone 2.5% crème works wonders and it only takes a little dab. It is a prescription crème that actually has some medication in it!

Good advice on your TP test!

I had a septic system for 20 years and we used nicer tp without a problem.

I’m wondering, isn’t it better to use 3 squares of Cottonelle than a ton of Scott’s? That stuff is awful.
