Sacramento: September 1 - 30, 2019 - Final update

High Temps:
How many Days of:

100's - Zero Days-Heat Index (1 day actual)
90's - 12 Days
80's - 9 Days
70's - 7 Days

60's - 1 day

Low Temps:
How many Days of:

90s's - Zero Days
80's - Zero Days
70's - Zero Days
60's - 9 Days
50's - 18 Days
40's - 3 days

We had quite a mix of high temps; most of them were quite comfortable. Of course, some us will only remember that one day it reached 100F and they will tell everyone else that it was 100 every day.

I'll remember that awesome Thunderstorm that boomed its way across parts of Sacramento dropping a lot of rain, ratting dishes and shutting down the power for 10 seconds.

Every single morning it was Cool and Comfortable, except for a few days that were chilly. After all it's Fall.

So Sacramento's had near perfect fantastic weather and temps (mid 70's) for the last 2 weeks, no doubt.

Get ready for a mild warm up to the low 80's for the next week. With cool, slightly chilly mornings and some Autumn Color to remind you this is not the desert Southwest despite our fantastic Sunny days.

Phoenix was still in the mid to upper 90's for the last 2 weeks. Vegas similar.

Sacramento mid to upper 70's for the last 2 weeks. Oh, but everyone thinks its so hot here,
NOT.

Phoenix 95F, my goodness; its Autumn for gods sake!
Riverside 88F
Las Vegas 83F
Sacramento 81F
St. Louis 74F
Portland 64F
Seattle 62F

91f in Fresno today, but it felt good cause the low was 57f. 90s can feel okay in October, chim :0

sac getting hit with those dry, Reno winds. Stay out of the mountains this week, won't be worth the risk. Lovely weather after that.

20mph winds for sac Weds/Thursday. :0

Hey fresnoperson,

91F in fresno probably felt good because the dew point was in the comfortable range, humidity was low, and most of the day the temps were between 57-91. In other words, most of the day it was is in 70's and 80's. Also, the sun is lower in the sky this time of the season so the sun doesn't feel as intense.

It was stunningly gorgeous in Sacramento today as it has been for the last week.

Just call me flovis. It'll save you from typing extra letters.

Yep, dewpoint was bone dry, so it likely never hit 90f in heat index!
Lovely weather but I'm worried about the lack of rain. Chance of rain in 12 days, but it likely won't be a large storm. Long term forecast is predicting a hot November for CA , too! :0

Nite

I still like San Diego way better than Sacramento. Anyways if I do land a new gig that lets me travel and work remote, then I can eventually move to a place like San Diego or southern Oregon. Both have great weather.

I'm surprised you would choose two places with such different climates, San Diego having a generally temperate climate and southern Oregon having almost four seasons with some ice and snow in the winter. As you've previously indicated a preference for son and a dislike of cold, what appeals to you about southern Oregon? I do think it's very beautiful, and I love the Summers up there. Don't think I could handle the winters.

Speaking of San Diego, today is the first chilly day we've had seemingly in weeks, maybe all month. Lots of clouds, 61 degrees walking the dog right now, and quite a stiff breeze. Finally puts me in the mood for fall. Sadly, Santa anas are back for the West Coast all week...

Nite
Like most of California, October is usually a dry month in Sacramento.
The heavy part of the rainy season doesn't really start until after Halloween. November should see one to three rain events(storms) on average. We will see what happens. It's always better to have an average rainy season than a dry one.

The last three rainy seasons have been ABOVE normal.

Hopefully, those dry winds are gone for the Season. We tend to call them "Diablo" winds in NorCal as opposed to "Santa Ana" winds in SoCal.

Sacramento and the Sacramento region has faired well so far but it always a concern all over the state. I'm ready for the rain, bring it on, (but no flooding).
