My husband and I are desiring to move next year to Oregon. We dont have our hearts set on anywhere specific. I was wondering if we could get some suggestions for towns. We can't pay a lot in rent, we currently live in a studio apartment. Its just us and 3 cats. My husband loves rain so weather isnt really an issue. Any ideas? Oh and we LOVE fishing, so anywhere we could do that would be great. Thanks!!

Fishing is most of the western half of the state. Most low rent places won't care about three cats. You don't say if you have an income or need work. Most of the cheaper places are actually in the bigger cities or the land-that-time-forgot nearly abandoned small isolated bergs. Do you need transportation, medical, social services? All need answered to give an intelligent reply. I think the eastern half is like Mountain Home.

Oh ok, we are low income, my husband is on SSI. Not looking for work at the moment. We will need health services like a mental health clinic, so someone to prescribe psychiatric medicine. Thats it. Thank you for your help!!!

Portland, Salem, and maybe Eugene, with your medical needs. Also Springfield, Dallas, Independence, Monmouth, Gresham, Rockwood, Cottage Grove, Creswell, Lorane, Veneta, Junction City, Albany, Etc. Do you need more?

You could rent in Salem for that. Some of the smaller towns around the area (Steve listed some). If you go out of town then you'll have transportation costs to add into your monthly expenses. Dallas is quite affordable and Polk County Mental Health is located there.

You guys are so awesome. Dallas sounds great thank you so much for your help!!!! I was looking at Dallas rentals and I can't seem to find pet friendly places. Does anyone know any offhand? Like I said trailer, studio, whatever we aren't picky, just someplace safe that we can have our cats.
