A(the) quantitiative analysis of the sample size would have to be put on the table.

Again, (and you are right) you can get a "picture" but you can not extrapolate valid statistics. If you wanted you could extrapolate general information.

The Metro Personal Income is a valid statistic, and so is the fact that both labor markets are similar in size. So with these two facts, in essence, San Antonio produces more income. If you look at both workforce charts on labor force occupations, San Antonio has more people employed in the industries that yield higher pay thus the $12 billion dollar difference. Can't get a easier explanation than that.

Something is not adding up here. San Antonio is twice the size of Austin population wise. San Antonio's metro has 2 million people while Austin's has about 1.7 million. Those two sources are only showing a less than 53k person difference in our workforces. These numbers are all over the place. Your other set of date showed a 150k difference in workforces. It's basic math. If we are making $11-$13 billion more than Austin with similar sized workforces, our median and per capita income should be greater than Austin's unless all of our wealth is concentrated at the top. Like I said before, that shows income disparity and only further proves the point that the educated in San Antonio are making more money. That still wouldn't explain why our per capita income isn't higher than Austin's if we have similar population sizes in our metropolitan districts.

Metro population has nothing to do with it. It is workforce population, San Antonio has a big population under 21 which is over 500,000, and a large retirement community that are not apart of the workforce.

Somebody has to take care of those kids which reduces disposable income and the difference in cost of living is not that great between San Antonio and Austin. So how do you figure that into San Antonio having a lower median income? That would mean there's a larger gap between the rich and the poor.

San Antonio has more industry, and it seems the economic outlook is a lil better in San Antono. It's just a myth that Austin has more opportunity, better pay etc.
Both metros are performing extremely well, but San Antonio has much more high paying jobs in Finance, Healthcare, Aerospace, BioMedical, Dept of Defense etc. Austin is not big in these industries and it shows by looking at the big picture, the total metro personal income. So you can spin it any way you want, but San Antonians produces more income with it's industries. I'm starting to question Austin's higher per capita and median family income.

Austin labor force 893,505

San Antono labor Force 946,210

Austin's GDP is the same as San Antonio's GDP. Roughly 80 billion dollars. That's the same as saying all of Austin's industries produce as much as all the industries in San Antonio.

Austin is indeed ranked higher than San Antonio when it comes to income per capita. Austin simply has a larger number of its population apart of the labor force than that of San Antonio. This makes perfect sense why Austin would have a higher income per capita.

The argument isn't that the educated in Austin are making more than the educated in San Antonio, it's whether or not the educated make more than the uneducated, period. The industries you mentioned mostly have employees with college degrees.

We are talking which job markets produce more income and which city has more people employed in the higher skilled paying jobs. San Antonio is clearly the one. We are not discussing child welfare.
