The RIM is better but San Antonio is still missing some great stores and restaurants like Crate&Barrel, IKEA, Fry’s, a 3rd Whole Foods (new WF will open in Stone Oak), another Central Market, Trader Joe’s, Lego Store, The Great Indoors, Houston’s, Corner Bakery Café, etc. You get the idea.

West Elm closed down in Quarry Village recently. It doesn't look like San Antonio will get IKEA if they can't even support West Elm.

IKEA is very different than West Elm and less expensive. It is a totally different experience. There is a “culture” that is part of an IKEA and San Antonio currently just does not fit that culture. IKEA is more than just furniture, it is about the culture and experience IKEA offers. Unfortunately, that culture and experience does little for the majority of the SA demographics and that is one of the reasons why there is not an IKEA in San Antonio.

It is unfortunate that Motif did not make it at The Legacy Shopping Center as well. I knew that would happen based on how dead The Legacy Shopping Center is.

Furniture store culture with IKEA? What the heck does "culture" have to do with inexpensive furniture? Educate this dumb San Antonian please.

As for Motif leaving SA, yes I do agree with it not meshing with San Antonio. I looked at it...it's very European and overpriced. Designed for compact living spaces like in Europe, as opposed to our bigger is better attitude in Texas.

IKEA is not something I have ever liked. To me that is the furniture that you buy to furnish your apartment or dorm in college. You definitely outgrow that stuff and hopefully buy real furniture that will last.

Sorry but you will have to go to an IKEA to find out for yourself. The one in Round Rock is a smaller one but the ones in Frisco (Dallas) and Houston are much larger.
