Where exactly was the Jack in the Box? On Fredericksburg? I remember there was a Bonanza, Wenchels donuts, Whataburger Luby's and Jims along Fred road? As for the the secret sauce...I always heard it was Ketchup and Mayo?

There was a Jack in the Box on the right side of Fred as you headed towards downtown from Wonderland. Don't know when it was built, but it was certainly there in the early 70's.

LOL.....think you're right about the "secret" to the sauce!

It was across Fred Rd from the South end of the mall. Can't remember how far down, but actually pretty close to the mall. I think Willsatx may be correct about it being a check cashing place. The shape of the building is pretty much still "the box" like it is now! Course I was just an "infant" so I don't remember these things....just the secret sauce!

Speaking of that area of Fredericksburg.....remember Po-Folks? I remember the wait line was out the door of that place when it opened and it was all the rage....I didn't think it was all that great.

That large shopping center across the street where the Golds is now (Toward the infamous former Whopper Burger)...that had a Woolco in there during the 60/70s. I remember when they had the going out of business sale...my family went there just about everyday..then it was Builders Square for many years. There were a few other things in that strip center...and I can't remember. Anyone have any memories?

i was driving down Blanco Rd from 410 passing the Toys R Us store, and out of nowhere i recall there being an apartment complex or condos there a LONG TIME AGO. i figure it had to have been a while back because i was SO excited when that Toys R Us opened when i was in grade school in the 80's. i might be mistaken, but right behind the now almost (if not completely) empty strip mall where James Avery made a home for many years, i recall something else being there before the Toys R Us. anyone remember, or set me straight on this?

I have been away from San Antonio since 2000 but everytime I come back home I visit Texan Seafood. I always order the Fisherman's Platter - you get a little bit of everything. My wife does not care for seafood too much but she loves Texan.

Good topic. I think it was just an empty lot(i could be wrong). The James Avery and Baskin Robbins shopping center was there since the early 70's. As was the bicycle shop on the corner...they finally just turned it into a check cashing/easy loan type place. I remember there were a lot of apartments and a Ramada Inn...where the Best Buy is now are you thinking of that area.
