My grandfather spoke about the "street cars" that would run from downtown to the near West Side back in the 1920's-? I really wished San Antonio would have preserved these tracks at least for this rail system. It saddens me that we paved over them with our current road system. Imagine how much easier it would have been to extend them out to the far reaches of our city.

^^^^^What he said, What?

Here's a pic of the Rough Riders training at Roosevelt Park in 1898. The machine guns are Colt 1895's.

Does anyone remember in the early 80's a huge 2-story video game arcade off of Datapoint Dr. I can remember going there but that is all I remember.
I used to love going to Photon where university bowl is now........It used to be called World Of Sports.

Default Great Stuff,

Once again a great picture-post Mud, as usual. I am a fan of T.R.'s. A great Pres.with a brilliant mind.
The guy had a fascinating character.
However, that was what has been called a, dirty little war. It was never truly ascertained with any certainty what sunk the U.S.S. Maine there in Havana Harbor.
Still it is good history, the story of the recruitment of the Rough Riders here in San Antonio.

Could have been. The old Turtle Creek Inn at Datapoint & Parkdale became a place called River City Fair around the late 1980s. Never went there myself (I don't think it lasted more than a year or two), but it was billed as an entertainment/gaming venue.
