I think it depends based on location. I made the mistake of going into one the other day as my wife needed something and it was the closest grocery store. Almost everything was gone in the pharmacy area.

An employee working told me that she wasn't sure when the last day was but that they are paid until November 18 no matter what. She joked she hoped that it closes sooner rather than later.

Feel sorry for the employees as the last few times I've gone to the one at I-56 and Camino del Sur the employees seemed really bummed and a few of them haven't found anything else yet.

I just realized today one of my local Albertsons (Broadway and Main) which was turned into a Haggen store for a few months is now an Albertsons again. In East County, we still have a former Haggen locals that have yet to reopen as something else left vacant.

Did this happen in anyone else's neighborhood where the Haggen reverted back to its original store?

I'd heard that Albertson's was going to reopen some former Haggen stores that way but hadn't realized they'd done so in San Diego. I wonder whether the old employees all got their jobs back at the store near you, or did they hire new people?

Our former Vons/former Haggen in La Mesa (on Avocado) is now a Smart and Final Plus. It's been packed since it opened and I really like it. However, I don't think it's created many jobs and they haven't rehired any former Vons employees. The employees I've talked to have all told me that they transferred from other Smart and Final stores.

Lake Murray area Haggen went back to being a Vons. When I went there a couple weeks ago none of the employees looked familiar.

Btw, Haagen's SoCal dumb and failed adventure cost it nearly everything; rapidly expanding beyond its means for a loss.
They have sold even their remaining core stores (in other part of country) to Albertsons, though the Haagen brand/label remains for now.

Rancho Bernardo location reverted to an Albertsons, but the Poway location, the Penasquitos location, and the one off 56 and Camino del Sur are still vacant to my knowledge.

The Haggen family sold their business to a private equity firm called Comvest based in FL. That company destroyed the business and now is selliing everything off to try and get their investors paid back. I'm sure the Haggens did fine. Cautionary tale of PE.
