He said it's likely that a national mask mandate would be deemed outside constitutionally stated federal powers. Not sure how you're arriving at it being appeasement to 'rednecks'. Would you rather a national mask policy and all the ensuing legal challenges be the centerpiece of his presidency if he were to win? Because the likelihood that that's what it would evolve into is high. That's what he's talking about.

Not national mandate but a call for a united national purpose to solve a problem like mature responsible other nations have done and they are now enjoying more personal freedoms and open economies stores , in contrast to our current non-science-driven mixed messages including counter-productive mockery of masks. Vote for a change this Fall, including support for the military.

YES. There shouldn't be any legal challenges.

If he can't even create a federal mask mandate then why even consider his presidency ? In that regard we might as well hold onto Trump. Before Covid I think Trump was doing a good job minus a few social issues which right wing religious freaks hold so dear to their hearts.

Biden NO WEED Democrap

Affirmative Action VP

No Federal Mask Mandate

Higher Taxes

BLM Friendly

Open Doors to Illegals

What good is " At least it isn't Trump " in this scenario ?

-Approaching 250M USA covid deaths -->failed national response vs other nations
-Zero response to bounties on US servicemen and calling em losers & suckers
-Tax policy favors the already wealthy - do not be conned again
-Minorities disproportionately impacted by injustice --> be decent and support them
-Separates children from families during detainment --> inhumane not american

Lot's of things fall into the shouldn't category, but it likely becomes a question of federal overreach so that's the reason he's backed off from the idea. If anything, that proves he's at least competent enough to not back a losing proposition.

Your vote from a California ballot will go to Biden no matter who you choose, so it's a moot point really. I'm apolitical in general and even more ambivalent towards national politics. What matters more is local, then state. Right now, we have a state mask policy (and a local one which predated it) so again, whether a national one becomes a thing or not is completely irrelevant.

That masks are even a campaign issue is illustrative of just how boned we are. Over six months into this and the best anybody can come up with is to put bags over our heads.

Your belief that other nations across the globe have somehow solved this and moved on is odd to say the least. I'm not sure where you're getting your information. Meanwhile, here we are in San Diego off the watchlist or color code or whatever clever new thing it is today, and nothing has really changed. And it's all sort of meaningless until everybody else catches up anyway. Other than a false sense of accomplishment, we're still stuck in March for the most part.

Seems like someone’s mask is on a little too tight.
