well i had not resorted to name calling and insults thats just not my thing. i tried to stay on topic about what i feel is wrong with san fran values.didnt the op ask if the stereotypes were relevant? i was just trying to give him an answer. than i get treated poorly. remindes me of being at liberal UCSC. I find it ironic that the very things san fransiscans are faulted for, they do to me on this board as well.

When I read this, something tells me you weren't smiling. It's all good, I sense something...many people on CD seem to feel that they have to 'defend' their territory - like the bloods and the cripts, no wonder everyone is dying....

Hang in there. Don't make other's problems, your own. Hey, we may not always agree, but I respect your opinion, and you certainly have a right to give it.

Well I live down in San Jose and even I've definitely seen sex on the street. Just go to Folsom Street Fair or Doerr's Alley.

I've even heard other liberal people complain that San Francisco is too far in the direction of "anything goes".

Yes, it's beautiful ~ the skyline; the architecture, the bridge ~ No denying it. But it's underbelly is frightening!
Actually, many San Franciscans do find that anyone with a conservative value system to be immoral and/or worthy of contempt. Not everyone, but many.

That being said, however, I do believe there's something about "San Francisco values" that's antithetical to what's made America great.

I've been to S.F. and found the place very scenic, physically beautiful, and charming. As big cities go, it's almost like a giant adult playground. Oh, but how surface looks are deceiving...

Rampant immorality...self-gratification...self-indulgence...materialism...rejection of God, the Bible, and the traditional family structure...loathing of the military that protects us...support of socialism & the welfare state...embracing anything weird, bizarre and anti-American...living for the present, never caring about the future...the whole hippie "gotta be me!" culture...disdain and condescension toward us "flyover" (Heartland) folks who don't share their beliefs...

Whenever I think of San Francisco, all these things come to mind!

It's sad really, that such a beautiful place is so stained with human selfishness, vanity, and overweening pride.
Very well said...and true.

I cant help but agree but the onlt thing i hate is how sf over shadows everyone else. Silicone valley is not liberal, the 680 corridor is not liberal, the east bay outskirts (pittsburg, antioch, brentwood, oakley, discovery bay, tracy, fairfield, vacaville, etc) are not liberal. And SF liberals hassle you if you are different so its best not to open your mouth and even try to have civilized conversation with them. 9 times out of 10 they are on acid or having a flashback anyways.
Actually, I would argue that Silicon (note there is no "e" in Silicon) Valley is more liberal than most parts of the US. It just appears conservative when you compare it to San Francisco.
