Damn--this is VERY interesting to know, it's kind of like the black man prefering a white women in some instances, because the black men say the black women are too 'fussy', so is this like competition between African Americans in the Oakland/Richmond area?
The African American black men at the Oakland airport all seemed pretty decent gentlemen, or am I just being naive?
The comment about the white guy strolling through in some Gap clothes, makes me curious as to why....

I thought it was actually in Oakland and Alameda was further South?
If my memory hasn't failed me, when you get off the freeway, you can either go right--to Oakland airport, or left--Richmond???

Anyone have a link to a map, I never got over the Richmond /San Rafael Bridge except to get to the airport.

Still wondering about El Cerrito...

Thanx

Uh, no. It shares a peninsula of land with Alameda's Bay Farm Island and Harbor Bay, but the airport's land is firmly within the city limits of Oakland . . .

Let me challenge you on that. I might be right or wrong, but I see it as the same situation as SFO. SFO is nowhere near San Francisco - it flanks San Bruno and Millbrae - but it is coded to San Francisco for tax purposes. Geographically, the Oakland Airport would belong to Alameda if it wasn't designated as the Oakland Airport.

It is what it is - firmly connected to Oakland. Alameda is primarily the island we all think of, but also a small section (including Harbor Bay, Bay Farm and the golf course) of the mainland north of the Oakland Airport. In the sense of Alameda being an island city, it is Alameda infringing on Oakland territory with Bay Farm, Harbor Bay and the golf course, not Oakland taking land from Alameda for the airport.

There is part of Alameda that lies on the mainland, but it only borders the airport which is in Oakland.
