Well, that's harsh.

We have a lot of low income housing in East Dublin. In fact, all these giant homes in East Dublin come with an attached BMR in-law unit. There is an income restriction on these BMR (below market rate) units. In fact, I know several families that rent out these units illegally on AirBnB - please do not do that because that is really dangerous. But there is lot of low income housing in Dublin also

You what ruins the "beauty and magical surroundings" of a place? Elitism. Exclusion. Maybe ask Trump to build a wall around Marin and make Richmond pay for it.

Sums it up well - no discussion of any substance, with a few exceptions

In San Francisco there are probably several different kinds of low income housing.
I don’t know them all but I do know that some of the new buildings are either required or given insensitives to allow a certain portion of the units at a very low cost to help allow the teachers, firemen or police officers to live in the city they work in.
They can’t resell at the current market price to make big bucks.
These units look just like all the others.
I am ok with giving needed public servants help with this.

Mandating that rich people build housing for poor people in their midst is a fool's errand. The only point of being rich is to improve your surroundings and experiences. People move up to get away from the unwashed (and uneducated, low class, etc) masses, not to wind up living next door to them.

Such a joke.

Indeed, it's ok for them to cut your hair, take care of your kids, work in the stores you frequent, clean your house and wipe grandma's butt in the rest home but OMG imagine the horror of having to live near them

Sure if they can afford it, move on in. But to subsidize them to live in a high cost area because they want to live there, well they can earn it just like the others that live there.
You have the right to live anywhere you want for the most part, but you don't have the right to force others to pay for it.
I'd like to live in a beach house in Malibu and I have every right to live there if I can afford it. But just because I want to live there doesn't mean everyone else should have to pony up so I can live in an affluent area. Nope, I can work my butt off to attain the wealth to do so if I want it.

True, dodge ... but low income housing isn’t comprised of view beachfront houses. It is small, efficiency apartments / condos with common grounds and some shared facilities on fringe properties. And the point is to bring affordable services as well as diversity to the wealthier area residents. So there’s benefit all round.

There are no beach houses in Marin County, and subsidized apartments in Marin County simply means that a certain number of units need to be dedicated to low-middle income families. For forty years Marin County has pulled every trick in the book to make sure that all subsidized housing got built in Vallejo, that's just BS and needs to stop. Almost every major City in the US has apartment buildings that dedicate a small number of units to the poor/middle class, it has not negatively impacted the wealthy tenants.
