I'm assuming you don't have a computer.

Here is a nice report from a blog called ATL URBANIST about a quick weekend getaway to SAV:

My family took a nice trip to Savannah this weekend to escape Downtown Atlanta’s crowd storm, with Garth Brooks concerts, the Hip Hop Fest (Woodruff Park) and the Outkast concerts.

The weather was overcast, but it was the perfect temperature for taking long walks on the marsh trail at nearby Skidaway Island and through the historic old part of Savannah, where even the parking decks are pretty

Very nice. I had to laugh about the parking garages, though. He must have stumbled onto the only pretty one.

I disagree. Savannah has some very nice looking parking decks. The biggest one in town can't even be seen from street-level.

Yes I'm glad they put in effort on many of them. The rounded windows and shutters and stuff are nice. A few are blocky but most are pretty decent at blending.

Another neat idea might be to plant some grass and small shrubs or trees and make the roof decks somewhat green. Or if we build new garages or revamp old ones and build more decks, perhaps in fact make the top deck in essence a "square" and make it mostly for recreational use. Thoughts all?

The Liberty Street Garage, next to the Courtyard Marriott and across from the Civic Center, is a work of art.

Here is a glowing report on a long-awaited visit to Savannah from a travel correspondent for the Idaho Statesman:

From tour guides to taxi drivers, we didn't meet anyone who wasn't over-the-top friendly and helpful. They're proud of their city and love to tell you about it. They talk a lot, laugh a lot. They seem to have found lasting joy simply by living in what a friend once called the most beautiful city in the South.

Now this is an interesting and unusual find: An article from the website Slate.com about "the mysterious typefaces of Savannah, GA." We've all noticed them before: Those odd businesses all over the old part of town, identified by hand-painted signage on their buildings, etc. But who knew there are actually people out there obsessed with them? Not only did Slate do an article on the origins of one particular Savannah hand-painted typeface, there is a FACEBOOK page that celebrates Savannah's hand-painted signs! Better yet, a SCAD grad student actually did her thesis on the subject!

The things you discover on the Internet at 2:08 in the morning ...

Savannah, Georgia sign font: Marcus Polite may have created it.
