This past Tues ( a beautiful day in the afternoon) I had a few hours to myself, a rarity, that I wanted all to myself.
Walked over to the park and sat on a bench in front of the fountain that looked beautiful decked out for Christmas. Sitting in the sun made me think about what a great day this was and how fortunate I was to be part of Savannah.

Went home got in my car and drove to Tybee. Color of the marshes was spectacular and I watched the sun go down. Money can't buy an afternoon like that.

I need to do more of that and would put that on the top of the list for all the stressed out people especially around this time of the year.

^ yes. And a Merry Christmas to you!

Nothing like an afternoon to the islands and back. I have done that too. Drive out and sit on the pier or south beach. Think about nothing. And be thankful to be part of Savannah. Sometimes walking through downtown or relaxing on the islands I feel we are living like kings (and queens). The parks and beach are all of ours and they sure are nice. Aside from public safety we have it really good here. Which is why I don't understand that, everyone here should unwind a little, look around. Oh I will throw this out there, Ft Pulaski is underrated it's a great place to sit and enjoy a very quiet afternoon. Also just visited Hunting Island SC for the first time and went in the light house. Another trip I highly recommend for almost heavenly calm and beauty.

Mutiny77, that's an interesting list of Top Riverfronts. Many other cities have cool riverfronts like the Twin Cities as well, but the key is to have parks and restaurants right along the water. Many places that have potential, from St. Paul to Macon, have railroads or interstates right along the river side. Fortunately we did not have this type of barrier blocking us from the river here. It would be very cool if Macon could reroute that railroad though. Macon is neat, just went there for the first time. But this is why as we continue to expand to Savannah River Landing we should take care to keep the riverfront as attractive as possible for visitors and residents alike. We are blessed with a great city with a beautiful view. Will be neat if they expand the ferry service even more, make us kind of like Venice.. between that and the "canal district".

Isn't 2013 antithetical to "what is hip?"
