In regards to the West - I like Wyoming (which has less snow than where I am), Fort Collins, Colorado my #1 pick, and the Southwest tip of Utah, right on the border of Nevada.

I personally would like CA. I have ben there before. But hubby want's nothing to do with California....

Still looking!

Default I agree

I am in an interracial relationship. We don't get looks or get harassed on the streets. But, we don't look for that sort of energy to be in our lives either. Have I encountered racism here? Yeah. My husband got jumped by two "skinheads". Luckily, he can take care of himself. But, had there been more, or the really psycho gun toting kind, well... we are lucky that they weren't. It made me scared of this town. That there really were people that had such a major issue with black people. But these kids were young guys with beer muscles. Ignorance and alcohol never mix well. But that was a strange one time incident that a "friend" actually put me in a bad situation by inviting my husband and I out knowing she was going to be with her "skinhead" friends. Some "friend" huh?
Is there racism in Savannah, yeah. But it doesn't generally go looking for you. You have to be seeking it. Like I said, I don't seek that kind of drama or negativity in my life, so I rarely find it.
Savannah isn't perfect. But its not the worst place you could life. For the most part people are nice.

Savannah is not the most racist city in Georgia. It might be one of the better cities in the state in that regard. But to state that we don't have divisions or problems would be a lie.

If you're looking for perfect, you won't find it here. But there are plenty of people living here who do their best.

I don't know about the race hate, but this happened to me on my own front porch. I was planting a tree, and my husband was taking down the shutters so we could paint them, and a group of YOUNG black kids came over and were watching. No big deal, but 3 of them (Must be younger than 10) Sat across the street on the curb and were chanting "Fat white Lady!" "Fat Whit man" "Dirty White Lady" "Dirty White Man" I was shocked to see such disrespect and obvious racism from such small kids. But kids learn from their families. Made me sick, and well pissed me off to be honest. I almost wonder why they would try to cause problems? Oh well, ghetto mentality will keep them in the ghetto.

We lived in GA for 4 years ( husband was stationed in ft. Stewart) and I never encountered any problems. I am not a person who cares about color or race at all though, I treat everyone with the same respect and, except for some individuals, that always works out well.

I'd go back to GA anytime!

I personally think it was quite tacky for who ever it was to bring up this post from a year ago.

True southerners do not make issues with race, religion or nationality (the southern people who do have issues with it are what we typically refer to as: rednecks, white trash, hillbillies, bubbas, etc...)

True southerners have been raised to show better manners than to even discuss such issues let alone bring it up in polite conversations. The only thing we true southerners do not like (from any race) is bad manners & tacky people.

Well said. +1.
Hey, what about issues like northern transplants to the south? Hopefully there're included no? I hope so. :>
