The AirBnB situation along the entire WA/OR coast isn't pretty right now.

New blog about the heat wave.

And then there is Monday. And quite honestly, it is hard to believe my eyes. Around 105F at SeaTac--breaking the all-time record of 103F. Around 114F in Portland---7F greater than the previous record. 110F in Olympia and peaking around 115 near Richland. Folks....this is unparalleled, dangerous meteorological territory.

I was looking at portable A/C units online last night just before midnight as they are the only ones approved by my HOA. Only Lowes in S Seattle and Renton had any in stock as far as I could tell (and they had plenty) so I set an alarm this morning and was at the Renton store when it opened... but they had already pulled every single unit from the floor for curbside pick up from online orders. I should have expected that, but didn't...

My husband ordered a couple from Amazon. Supposed to be delivered on Friday. In the meantime we did buy a window A/C unit from Home Depot. HOA be damned.... I'd like to see that policy hold up in a legit life-threatening heatwave...

Many window units available still at Home Depot. Consider getting one today if all you have are box fans. Even if we don't hit 110 it's going to be truly hot for our area. Put some thought into it, prepare, and if or when it comes you'll be glad you did.

LOL - that blogger has no idea what they're talking about.

Seattle's high temp on July 20, 2009... was 81 degrees.

So once you establish that your source has no idea what they're talking about... you might want to tone-down the mock horror over such fictional B.S.

Seattle has officially reached 100 degrees three times in modern history

July 29 not 20. It was when the all time of 103f was recorded.

I'm kinda worried, honestly. I'm on the 18th floor, and my AC barely works anyway.

I'm worried too.... mostly about our animals: Keeping them cool and watered without overheating ourselves running around tending them. We've got horses, goats, sheep, chickens, dogs and cats to keep happy. We do have a nice big barn.

Actually you're the one who needs to tone it down.

If the blog of a UW professor in Meteorology is too much for you to handle, how about some generic news source. I got one for you:
https://komonews.com/news/local/potentially-historic-heat-wave-to-grip-western-wash-this-weekend

Oh and another...

https://www.seattlepi.com/weather/article/seattle-june-weekend-heat-wave-100-degrees-16268437.php

and another...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2021/06/22/heat-wave-pacific-northwest-historic/

I could keep going on, but you get the point, right?

So if Seattle has only historically gotten to or above 100 it is a pretty damn big deal that it could do so this weekend. That it could do so for more than one day in a row is even more notable.

And no, it's not "mock" horror. It's pretty real. Enough that I spent nearly $1k this week on air conditioners. I will be comfortable. You??? You can sit and stew in your own sweat for all I care.
