But don't believe because it stands, it will still stand.
Steel can look good but full of rust under.
All these bridges need to be controlled and need repairs.
I live near a big bridge and they spend millions on it. (not in usa)
They have trains, cars, and trucks on it.
If it collapses , it could be a nightmare for the whole country.
One bridge down , one dam down, and an entire state is wiped out of the map.
What I worry the most is that our governments don't have the money to maintain our transportations systems.

What I suspect you should have said here is that, "our governments don't have the money WE PAY THEM to maintain our transportations systems. Instead, they blow our money on foolishness and white elephants."
I know every bridge across our major rivers. I know where I can ford some of our streams with a truck. I have a winch. I know which railroad bridges I can cross with a truck if necessary. Everybody who lives in rural America should know these things. I have radio contacts I can use to tell me when it's safe to cross such bridges. You don't want to meet a freight train coming the other way. There are no passenger trains up here.
Detroit's problems are not amenable to any particular government or economic system.
It's had 6 decades history of one party rule and handouts.
Bomber commands during WWII doing next day aerial photo damage assessment were
amazed how quickly the rubble was being cleaned up and damage repaired. The state
and civil authorities didn't do it. Grandparents and children and disabled vets were
doing the work without pay.
Compare that to Haiti. The hurricane that flattened the island was years ago and
there is still rubble in the streets in the capital.
America will collapse when that population becomes the ruling politik and make it
one party rule, like Detroit, and that my friends is inevitable.
America would have a better chance if we lost a nuclear war.
But anyway, since you guys know how dire the situation here is in the U.S, why haven't you all fled the country or do you have planned escape routes? Which countries would you be most willing to relocate to?
Looking at things from a global perspective, U.S. is by far the best country to be in if SHTF.
It's the country with the lowest population density when compared to other first world nations.
I'm staying right here and have a planned escape route if SHTF.

It's also the country with the highest gun ownership. It's all a matter of perspective.

Let me guess, you are going to Big Bend and will live like the Apache, drink water from the cacti, move at night and eat sotol roots?
= Less competition for resources, another positive!
You are just full of good ideas
There should be a channel for you on TV where you can order prepper porn? All sorts of death and carnage to help you get excited about resources etc.
