I have heard Branson is super conservative. I have a good job offer but, I really don't want to live where I'll constantly be biting my tongue. Is there anyplace to meet up with some other liberal democrats?

If you're a liberal then EVERYONE in Branson is a conservative and you'll end up speechless from biting your tongue 'til it bleeds. Best look somewhere else. Might I suggest the left coast? You'll fit right in!

Uh no. Southern MO has a large number of "blue dog Democrats." They just aren't as vocal.

If you're the type of "liberal" who thinks skin color is a non issue and that the glass ceiling needs to be shattered you're probably ok. If you're the kind of liberal who believes everything you don't like or agree with should be illegal for everyone and you think "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...." means prayer should be outlawed in schools and people shouldn't be allowed to say "God Bless" because it *may* offend you would probably run into some trouble.

Me, I try to divorce myself from the republicrats entirely. You can't trust a politician no matter what color his tie is.

Greeniis,

SW MO people are some of the greatest people you will ever meet; which you will learn if you move here ... a "lagniappe" of the area. Still, this is a very conservative part of the country. Democrats, not a problem, even some liberal members of the Democrat party live here. Socialism is another matter all together. If you lean so hard to the left, that your ideologies embrace Socialism, you probably won't have much in common with too many folks here. People are tolerant of others views, but it is what it is. I'm conservative, I like it here. Having said that, I also like San Francisco, but I wouldn't want a daily dose of the hard-left politics. Lots of liberal bastions in this country. Branson is a conservative area and that is a reason many of us chose this beautiful area of the United States. Hope you don't have to bite your liberal tongue often if you opt to move here.

Default On second thought

Because I'm liberal does not mean I don't love my country. I remember what brought our forefathers here. Do you? Freedom of religion. What that means to me is that everyone has the right to choose their religion and, even (oh my God) if they choose to, not have any religion. Freedom is all I want! I am thankful for the men and women who fight for my right to be free. Free to be...me!

I was somewhere recently and the conversation inevitably turned to politics. People were complaining about the Obama administration. Some cretin said, "He can't even prove he's a citizen". OMG!! What kind of comment is that? If that is the most intelligent thing you can say, shut up already! That is how I feel about the comment about liberals being against religion, flags and military.

After thinking about my last paragraph it makes me realize that I wouldn't even mind living somewhere conservative if there are intelligent, respectful, thoughtful, caring and loving people. Is this something I will find in Branson, Mo?

What about the little Muslim boy, the Jewish girl or the Hindu woman? how do you justify subjecting them to your prayer, "Jesus Christ, who died for our sins..."?

That is what our forefathers died for, the right to freely practice their religion. Now you want to force yours onto everyone? Freedom is what our young men and women are dying for today. Let's give freedom to everyone, not just those we agree with. Now that is a liberal thought!!!

Unfortunately, indeed. Chances are you won't like it, and visa versa. Be sure to tell your left coast cohorts how much. Tell them early and tell them often. Better yet, don't make the move. After all, you have the "freedom not to. Exercise it! Stand up for your rights.
