You aren't lying.....I was getting sick of going around the construction going east on West Genesee. Now, we'll see if a truck gets stuck again.

I bet they were hoping this would be swept under the rug. It's hard to tell people to come downtown while your head of security is hospitalized with a broken jaw after an attack.

To be honest, they should have done this even before that incident. Many cities tend to put more officers on patrol in their Downtowns to at least have a presence that is visible. It didn't help that the guy was homeless and somehow found his way to the area from Cleveland. With this said, I still wouldn't discourage anyone from going to Downtown.

You do know that Syracuse attracts the homeless from out of state because there is no residency laws, right? The shelters bus them in because they get paid by body and they don't have a waiting period while someone becomes a resident. It is the same reason why we jump to take in unaccompanied minors. The church in Newark NJ that was sending people up plays a big role in the heroin epidemic in the area. It's about the money, not about helping people.

Yes, I'm totally aware of this, especially since my father is the Pastor of a church right next to the Rescue Mission. NJ is probably one of other places that people come from, as the guy that came from Cleveland is originally from Illinois and has a history of mental health issues according to an article that took statements from his siblings. I wouldn't be surprised if he and others are given tickets to come here like one of the articles you posted states.

Nice find and it does seem like the Arts scene has expended some in recent years.

I also notice how people not from here will take note of developments more so than locals.
