Neither, really. It's just proof that there are ignorant people everywhere, and if you're coming to Florida to avoid them, well...good luck with that.

As to which posters I'm referring to-- that's all open to your own interpretation.

lovelei3...glad to hear your new home is a pleasant one , except for palmetto bugs...are those actually roaches?

Also I am curious as to how the singles party on Treasure Island went, all ages? This is the area I would like to relocate to, I am single women who needs to find a mate.

Are the beaches kept nice and clean?

Happy New Year to all! Sadly, I haven't found a good job yet. I did take a job at a collection agency for 3 months and I quit. It was dreadful... first time I've ever left a job without one to go to. So, I am still furiously looking, sending resumes and attending job fairs.

I do still like the FL lifestyle and I have no complaints on that front. It was super sitting in a restaurant out in Indian Rocks Beach on New Years Day where the doors were thrown wide open and the weather was totally awesome. I'd spoken to my girlfriend and her husband in ME ==> 8 degrees up there without the wind chill factor. Family in VA had the low twenties... I'll take the beach and sandals any day, thanks!

The singles group I met with a few months back is 'Plenty of Fish' and there are all ages represented. I have since met a very nice man that I have been dating for more than 4 months. Yep, I met him at a party. Oh, and he's a FL 'Cracker' so we have lots of laughs about the whole native/newbie thing. LOL... all natives don't hate us. They most marvel at the fact we still wade in the water during this time of year though.

Good luck to all of us as we continue to settle in our new homes!

Hi Lovelei3, congrats on your move and dating! I have been researching the Clearwater area for a few weeks now...seems like a wonderful place to get a fresh start! I am a single parent turning the big 4-0 this year, UGHHHH!!! I have lived in PA most of my life and have never felt 'home' here. When I am close to the ocean , I feel alive, inspired, happy, and most important, I do feel at 'home'. If anyone has any advice for me as to how to start my new adventure I would greatly appreciate it.
By the way, it is 12 degrees here and snow/ice everywhere...please give me a palm tree and a corona light!!!

Heading North, I hope...
If you are going back North, please alert me when you leave, because I miss home a lot and have realized Tampa sucks.

Default How are the summers?

It sounds great in the winter (I'm up north suffering with our cold weather). What are summers like? Is it hot and steamy? More manageable? I don't mind 90's if it's not too humid. Coming down in March for a look-see.
