I can see how people that live on the outskirts of the city(the Burbs of Tampa like New Tampa, Brandon/Riverview, Citrus Park, Westchase, etc.) see everything as spreadout...but if you actually live in the city, you will find that most everything is within a few miles of downtown proper(i.e Airport, Sports Facilities and Concert, Theater and Arts Venues, Shopping, Parks, Business Districts, the Bay)...
