The blood for Texas independence was spilled mostly between Houston and San Antonio.
I'm 65 and a native Texan. Fort Worth and San Antonio are EASILY my generation's preferable Texas cities. I know Texas history as well as anyone I think. Houston is ok I guess just not my cup of tea.

Business travel is a large part of the reason that people come to Dallas and Houston. There's really not much of a reason to have a recreational visit to either of those cities.

Really? So nobody in the USA is remotely interested in seeing 2 of Texas biggest cities. Two cities who have had a major impact on America? 2 cities with historical sites? Really? C'mon man. That pessimistic approach to life is no bueno

I was born and raised in Dallas. I like Dallas and think it has a lot to offer. I have traveled all over the world and honestly, there are much better places to choose than Dallas for a vacation if your time isn't infinite. Some US examples: San Antonio, Boston, New Orleans, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Boston, DC, etc.

Probably because you was BORN AND RAISED in Dallas.

People mostly look outward for adventure. Even though they know its possible to have a good time at home....most of the time they prefer not to and look at other places.

So I am unable to objectively value my city of birth? Are you really telling me that Dallas offers as great of a tourism experience as the cities I listed?

1. A unique environment that you can't find in other cities.

2. Arts and cultural opportunities that aren't found elsewhere. Lots of cities have nice art museums and symphony halls. They need to go beyond that.

3. Famous for something positive is unique to them and transcends trends and pop culture.

4. Beautiful and unique architecture that goes beyond a few flashy buildings.

5. A strong sense of history and appreciation for the city's history.

Those are just a few of my criteria.
