Very interesting. It seems like the states with lower registration are either solidly blue or solidly red. Texas is probably the most moderate out of them. I wonder if it is mostly people on the left that think there is no hope for texas going blue or people on the right that think texas is securely red and won’t change. It could also have to do with the large Hispanic population, they seem to be less political than other groups.

Probably that most people feel that politics won't impact them in their day to day life and are not concerned about going out and voting.

I am not responsible for the acts of other adults. All I know is that I have voted for decades, even before I moved to Texas 29 years ago.

Left a blue state. Roe's not even on the radar; Roe was bad law to begin with.

What I care about (in order): freedom, economy (incl. taxes, cost of living and jobs), family, public safety. Everything else is a secondary consideration. Texas still checks all 4 boxes (for now).

If I ditch Texas, it'll be for something like property taxes, not abortion. And the destination is most likely someplace like Tennessee.

Freedom is an interesting choice because both Democrats and Republicans hate Freedom. They just hate different types of freedom.

The funny thing about freedom is that everybody has a different idea of what it is.

That is true, but even if we take some more basic notions of what it is, both parties get a D-. Its just different types of freedoms they want to restrict.

Rand Paul, Thomas Maddie, and Justin Amash are the best three fighters for freedom in this country that are/were members of Congress or governors and they are all/were all “republicans”, although there is definitely a big difference between them and most traditional republicans.

Barry Goldwater was the last to run for president and actually be one of the parties nominees and he was also a republican.

The best presidents we’ve had (imo) when it comes to freedom we’re probably Calvin Coolidge and Grover Cleveland. Cleveland was a democrat and Coolidge was a republican.

But to your earlier point, freedom means different things to different people. Unlike his dad, I dont consider Rand Paul a champion of freedom at all but you do. It just goes to underscore that point.

Thomas Massie and Justin amash are close to Ron Paul. I agree rand falls short but he is still better than any senator I can think of, and it could all be a ploy to appeal to more people.
