Let me put it this way....I don't know if any of you have seen the most recent Muppets movie from 2011. I thought i'd give it a look since I remember growing up with the Muppets and their movies and so I'd watch it for nostalgia sake.

Well the main villain in the movie an Oil tycoon named 'Tex' Richman. His 'devious' plan was to acquire the Muppets old Theater, destroy it, and search for oil. I remember getting annoyed after hearing the name of that character and what Hollywood was insinuating about people from 'Tex'as.

The few Texans i know in real life never really talk about California.

Ditto. I've gotten one snide remark in 4 years of living in Texas and I'm not silent about being from California.

California is the most beautiful state in the Continental 48. This native Texan loves it. Feel free to hate their politics, it's a free country, but last time I checked they were still economically the most powerful state in the union.

Would much rather be here.

Also, I almost NEVER hear anyone badmouth California unless someone badmouths Texas, first.

Not for much longer.

If you look at fundamentals like HS graduation rates, college graduation rates, private investments, startup growth, export growth, and energy production, TX leads CA across the board.

Just looking at graduation rates of Hispanics in CA shows that nearly half of the Hispanics (which will dominate the state soon) do not graduate. In TX, almost 90% graduate. And a majority go on to college.

Income is correlated to education. Business growth is correlated to an educated workforce.

The leverage is with Texas.

Not according to this.

Interactive: State High School Graduation Rates by Race, Ethnicity - NationalJournal.com

Texas's Hispanic graduation rate is 82%. California's is 70%. While Texas leads, the disparity you're alluding to is worse than these data indicate.

You just haven't seen it, but there are Californians that do the same thing on the Texas forums.

Obviously, not all Texans hate Californians. Insomuch as some do, there are legitimate reasons for this dislike. It mostly comes from the fact that Californians (but really blue-staters in general) are constantly trying to ram their progressive "culture" and ideals down the throats of states located between the two coasts. The last thing most of us want is to be Californicated, and we resent attempts to do so.

It's not really a California thing though. I have gotten to the point that I pretty much view blue states as foreign countries. Blue states are overall much more of a threat to my way of life than a country like Iran or North Korea will ever be. Iran and NK are never going to affect my life directly, but idiot Senators and Presidents from blue states try their best to change my lifestyle on a daily basis.
