East Texas has more southern roots. North Texas is pretty flat and plains with a more Oklahopma western style. South Texas from san anotonio south is more like mexico in culture. The hill country is more german and cowboy mix. North texas once you leave dallas until to get to amarillo is flat and pretty much cattle land with little there really.I guess the big chnage thati have noticed is san antoinio and the are just to the roth almost a comp[late culture change from mexican to a german influence then west to austin which is its own area with a mix of old hippie and wanna be cowboy.

That's a good description, texdav. I like the trans-Pecos or Far West Texas area best (Baja New Mexico).
