My son booked a room for 2 nights, used his cc to hold the rooms several months in advance. When we went to the hotel they had cancelled the reservation due to his cc being declined a week prior to our arrival. They stated they could swipe the card and decline our reservation due to their guidelines. We did not give them permission to swipe the card ahead of time. They stated when they swiped the CC and it was denied they tried contacting us through email and phone # . When we went back to our call logs it was a toll free number but no voice mail left for a call back. We also checked our email and the only thing that was submitted to him was an email from an unknown location that stated his cc was declined. It had no logo of the hotel mentioned so due to spams and CC scams he did not call back afraid of CC identity theft. Were they in the right to swipe his CC and cancel our reservation. This was a major hotel chain during spring break weekend. We were charged an additional 100 per night and had to pay the whole total of 980 w/ deposit up front before we got our key to the room.
