Twenty years later, there’s little hope that JonBenét Ramsey’s murder will ever be solved – The Denver Post

Although D.A. Garnett said that he knows who the killer is? (He probably wishes he could take back that statement.) Maybe the new round of DNA testing will provide more clues. We can only hope.

I saw that and wondered if it was truly something that he said. I find it kind of fishy. Has it been confirmed that he said that?

You know, one does begin to wonder if half of what the media says is true, but according to this, he did say those words.

"Asked if he thought he knew who killed JonBenet, Mr Garnett replied, “I do.” He added: “If we can ever file a case in open court, I’ll tell the world.” "

I guess one could know of another's guilt but lack the sufficient evidence to convince a jury of it.

I found this article from 1998 about the earliest web sleuths trying to figure out the case of Jon Benet Ramsey to be very interesting and a lot lighter then much of what is normally discussed in these threads. Here we are, 20 years later doing the same thing.

Many years ago a woman in my area disappeared. I have heard the police know she is dead but can't prove it and know who killed her but can't prove it.

If they tried to take it to court under those circumstances they know they will lose......if and when new evidence comes to light that could produce a conviction they wouldn't be able to because of double jeopardy.

That is why charges have never been brought against anyone in the Ramsey case, IMO.

And, I think it is pretty common.

The article is from 1998. Is Peter Boyles still around, talking about the case? Jameson is.
