I remember hearing something about that, what happened with that? I think it was the Cimmaron alliance group who got permission to fly pride flags during June, but a few church goers got their Bible Belts a little too tight, and made the city take them down. That was like 5 years ago?

The pride flag flew or flies on the lawn of the Tulsa Education Center. I think there were any complaints.

As the gay community in San Francisco did the gay community in Oklahoma City would have to establish a viable gay community within the downtown-midtown-uptown or whatever area of Oklahoma City deemed appropriate and fly the PRIDE FLAG 24/7 365 days a year . It is the responsibility of the gay community to fly theirs Gay Pride Flag and no one else.

Unlike Tulsa, Oklahoma City does have a gay neighborhood.

You're correct Howest, it's official name is called Brady Hights, but we call it Homo Hights, or the Gayborhood.

Tulsa does have a few pockets with a gay population, most gays live Midtown. OKC on the other hand, has a huge, concentrated gay neighborhood, NW 36th and Penn area. I've never seen cities OKC size or even bigger with such a gay neighborhood as OKC.

That sums it up. It can even be a bit creepy in the oppressive cultural conservativism, most of it heavily based on fundamentalist religion.

It's 39th and Penn. Hardly any other gay neighborhood has such a huge motel. Interesting how in 1987 that the Habana Inn owners came to realize it was going to have to try going total gay or else shut down. Much of what little business they were getting came from pickups from the nearby bars.

Talk about creepy. I bet it's really bad in towns in counties, around 20 of them, where serving liquor by the drink is still banned to this day. The year is 2017, not 1907.

I haven't been to that area in years, it just wasn't my cup of tea if you know what I mean. The last time I was there, it seemed like an island of filth in a somewhat nice part of town. Trash on the streets, ugly buildings, no charm at all. I didn't know if anything or much has changed in the last 20 years. With OKC changing so much since then I would hope it's also turned around.
