I was never a fan of Zendaya's, so I was hoping she'd go to 4th with Aly 2nd, and Jacoby 3rd, but I knew she wouldn't. I was honestly afraid she'd win, but after Derek and Kellie's freestyle, and the overwhelming approval they got in social media, I thought they might have the fan support to put them at the top.

I personally think Derek is a genius choreographer. His revolving room, Monday's dance with Kellie to name a couple, but the guy is amazing. I loved when Len told Kellie she was as good as Julianne Hough, and that she and Derek has a wonderful chemistry.

I'll be interested to see what changes are coming in the fall (that Brooke alluded to) besides cutting back to just Mondays. And I hope Derek decides to give it one more year.
I was sincerely hoping Zendaya would leave first, but Jacoby did look like he was stomping bugs so maybe it was deserved more. But Kellie's freestyle blew them all away, especially in that it kept it simple and impressed with good dance. I was utterly unimpressed with either Jacoby's or Zendaya's.

I'm sorry for Ali. I really liked her dancing. It was moving if not always perfect.

I really hope they can do away with the Disney ringers and at least insist they be 18 and don't dance as part of their job.

When the winner was announced, did anyone think Zendaya looked real surprised?

I thought she look disappointed, but managed to cover it well. I have to give her props for handling it with grace. She is just a kid after all.
And, while I don't think she belonged in the competition (too young + already a pro dancer) I don't blame her - I mean, who is going to turn that down? I blame the producers who put her there.

I thought Ally should have taken 3rd place instead of Jacoby but, oh well.

Yaaayy, Andy did his Gaga dance - love that!

VERY cool seeing Kristi Yamaguchi and Dorothy Hamill together in the dance.

A great finale. Well done

It's unlikely that adults have seen much of her (and didn't know who she was) but she's a rising star among young folks.

Having the abiity to dance well really adds to her "marketablity" and can open the door for roles in musical/dance movies - which have been making a comeback (not necessarily geared towards older audiences but those such as "Step It Up" etc - which are geared towards the youth crowd).

Ok. Thank you. I'm next to ancient, and you're right, I've never heard of her. I wish her well.

I think it would have been much better if she'd done something with more classic dance IN HEELS for her dance of choice, not gone back to hiphop. I fast forward through hip hop.

Her dancing is technically good but I see no artisty in it. Compare that to Kelli and the difference is immense. Kelli pushed herself hard but she sells her dances emotionally. The disney girl never did. When she is past the age for these musical/dance movies she will need to be able to do more than bounce.

I think if she is doing a traditional dance and all the other women wear heels she should to.
I don't see what there is to appreciate in hip hop and other dances which feature mechanically moving people. People in them look as though they are in a sort of athletic competition. The only exception was that I did watch Psy and that held my attention. I think he's cute, in a very odd way. I also enjoyed that music by PitBull, though the name really puts me off. I like a lot of kinks of Latin music.

What I dislike is music in which the singer is singing the SAME lyrics, over and over, and they do it louder and louder until finally it builds up to where they are screaming. Some young female singer on the show did that and so did Wynonna. It reminds me of a little brat I passed in a park, throwing a tantrum in wanting to get what she wanted and also to call attention to herself, yelling louder and louder.

I missed Andy too. He was a hoot!
Psy....ugh. I looked up the lyrics to his new song and honestly I will do everything in my power to keep my kids from hearing it.

I've already posted how much I enjoyed this finale. One thing I noticed, though: the judges know who the winner is before the start of the finale show and their comments to the finalists tell the viewers who didnt win. For example, Len told Zendaya that she was a winner, no matter what (or words to that effect). I knew then that Kellie had won. This same thing happened in the past two finales.

Those Disney kids attract a younger audience. My daughter is 8 and we've never watched this show before. She heard at school that "Rocky" (Zendaya) was on it and wanted to see her. I'm still not a huge fan of the show but my daughter loves it if she actually knows who is on it. Bringing on the Disney kids attracts young viewers and their parents. I hope they keep it up, it's fun to watch my daughter try and dance like they do on the show.

I've wondered about this too...

There have been a lot of stars familiar with choreographed routines... Dirty Dancing Jenifer Grey, Gymnast, Ice Skaters... etc.

This season was different... many at work had stopped watching and were brought back in because their kids or grand kids tuned in to see Zendaya...

No matter what they call it... shows still live and die on ratings and broadening the demographics is one tried and true way to increase ratings...

Shrewd observation.

They looked surprised, though, when Aly took fourth place.

I may be out of touch, but I think some of the dances are a bit more suggestive than a young child should be exposed to. I find some of those young child competitions where kids are dressed and try to act as adults a bit stomach churning, frankly.

DWTS will have whoever will draw an audience. The producers would have Jodi Arias as a "star" if they could.

They dont care if the show is "fair" at all -- it's only who/what will bring in the most viewers and most water-cooler talk and, thus, the most advertising $$$.
