Star Trek Voyager "The Disease" when Kim got romantically involved with a unapproved alien and gets in trouble.
My favorite Star Trek Voyager is Nemesis. Where Chakotay ended up being brain washed and hating the very group that came to rescued him. Hate can be a very strong emotion.

A friend of mine in the late 80s/early 90s looked a lot like Marina Sirtis/Counselor Troi of The Next Generation.
She hated when people said that, but people meant it as a compliment.
I remember that episode well. It was so harrowing.
My answer was also from ER. As someone already said…..It was the episode when Carol finally goes to be with Doug.
It’s interesting how everyone is mentioning really good shows. We watched all the ERs a few years ago and it was just as good. I’m going to look for NYPD Blue and Northern Exposure, as well as a few others, like LA Law. I’d love to see them again.

I did that last winter as well. Hard to imagine just how many people watched that show on Thursday nights every week and then talked about it the next day (the case with so many shows in the pre-streaming era). "Appointment TV" is something my 17-year-old will never know and perhaps never understand.
In rewatching ER, I realized that most of what I remembered was actually from the early seasons. I checked out of it sometime around season five. I do recall that - to me - it was getting less fun to watch as it was turning into more about workplace fighting and politics (had enough of that going on in my life and really did not want to watch it on TV) and that is when I quit watching it. Some good stories/acting in later seasons, some serious jump-the-shark writing as well but nice to see them wrap it up with some closure. And the guest stars were great, seemed to get great writing as well.
But, yeah, the episode in which Greene loses the mother in the ER.
The episode of Silicon Valley in which the characters are at Tech Crunch to present their revolutionary compression software, only to discover that a competitor has gotten their code and presented their compression product on the first day of Tech Crunch. In their despair, they stumble upon a new method of compression and in an all-nighter the code is completely rewritten to use this new method and present the next day.
To say this is not safe for work is an understatement. To say this offends large numbers of people would be an understatement.
But it is so brilliant and hilarious. Especially if you know engineers.
