Bears - possible, but they are very rare in my area until recently, ghillie suit - again possible for at least one. My first encounter was a little over 40 years ago. It was night time and I had just gotten out of the shower and putting on my PJs in my room. I never saw the creature, but I could smell it, and heard it grunt. I ran to my father and he went out to investigate. He found nothing. Next night, same thing, and this time I heard its fingers (I assumed) scratching the window screen and 4 marks were left on the screen. The next morning, there was 9 evenly spaced footprints, at least thats what they looked like running from my side of the house, towards the woods across a recently plowed field. It kinda of hard to explain. I do recall they were 9 feet apart. Dont think a bear could do that, a human maybe? Second time was not that long ago, like 2010. Took my dogs out for the last time that night, and I usually would smoke a smoke while waiting on them. The little poodle started barking like crazy and running back and forth and kept barking towards the shed in my back yard, about 50ft from where we were. Before I could turn around and turn on the porch light, whatever it was darted off, but I could clearly see it was bigger than me. I can say for sure what it was, but I very much believe both times, it was a Bigfoot.
That's a great story. Thanks for sharing.
But it is just as much evidence for a wendigo as it is a Bigfoot.

Very true! But I dont believe in the wendigo, nor do I beleive in Sheepsquatch, the Mothman, the Lizard Demon or the snalleygaster, but I do believe in Bigfoot, and thats what I believe I saw.
On a side note, anybody been watching Expedition Bigfoot? Thoughts?

As for the pic linked to, I dont put much trust in anything that group has posted since they went on TV several years back and made fools out of themselves.
There is a good chance it could have been a Dogman or 'Loup Garou', they live in the same areas as Bigfoot, but strangely, Dogmen are not as aggressive as Bigfoot.
Using smaller dia limbs though, I dont know any humans that can bend 3-4" dia limbs into those kinds of creations (even if using a tool for leverage).
Depends on the tree.

Here are pictures of black bear tracks: https://www.bear-tracker.com/bear.html. As you state; there are not a lot of bears in SC: https://www.thestate.com/news/local/...235798417.html. But you do have about 900. You also have the bodies to prove you have bear from your State's annual bear hunt. None of your bear hunters has ever bagged a Big Foot thinking it was a bear. So we have no evidence of the one; but plenty of evidence of the other.
As far as smelling something awful when you thought you had the first encounter; bears love septic tanks. Sometimes they have been stuck in septic tanks: https://thechive.com/2016/12/15/incr...cavator-video/. In my neighborhood some people have had the covers of their tanks removed. The bears like the fat that is floating on the top in these tanks. After having one of these 'tasty' meals I would not think they would smell that great! It might also be the difference between a 'brown bear' and a black bear!
I would like to add about all of the Big Foot tracks that we now have the technology to prove they came from an unknown primate. So far nobody has been able to do that. When teams went to the Himalayans to test their mummified creatures and tracks; everything came back as bear, goat or dog.

They would have to dig to get to the tops of tanks here. They are/were by code 16" deep. Most Ive seen dont have a clean out pipe, so the lid has to come off. As far as the smell, no it wasnt a septic type smell, and yes I know what that smells like. It was more of a oh how to say it, sweaty, moldy type of smell. As far as the prints, I dont really recall what they looked like, hell I was only 9 or 10, but I do remember the distance ad counting them from the roadside.

Here is a good article that talks of many of the things I have pointed out: https://skepticalinquirer.org/2013/0...ry_man-beasts/. I quote from the article: "As to bears, Napier (1973, 150–51) observes that “The hindfoot of the bear is remarkably human-like,” and that near the end of summer when worn down, the
claws “may not show up at all” in tracks. Also at moderate speeds the hindfoot and forefoot prints may superimpose to “give the appearance of a single
track made by a bipedal creature” (Napier 1973, 151)."
As far as the smell; that would still not rule out a bear. All I am asking is if there can be a logical explanation instead of pointing in the direction where there is no proof.
