I don't think there is any connection between Briton today and Singapore, I never hear of Singapore in the media and couldn't tell you one famous Singaporian (in fact I don't even know if 'Singaporian' is correct lol), Im no expert but I imagine that the closest (and I don't just mean in distance) 'Anglo' nation to Singapore these days would be Australia?

I've actually NEVER heard of Singapore being mentioned on the TV.
All I hear about is people going on Singapore Airlines to get to Australia.
The Brits also had a large military presence in Singapore for years until the 1970's when they finally left. There are thousands of service members and their dependents who have very fond memories of their time in Singapore and travel back on vacation to rekindle old memories. Quite a few of them married local women and have blood ties to the country.
There's also a strong tradition going back generations amongst some Singaporeans to have a British education starting with boarding school and continuing onto university. Quite a few Singaporeans are alumni of British schools and have an academic affinity with the UK.
