Coastal Storm this weekend. Heads up southern Vermont for snow. and then get ready for some serious cold air! Classic stuff.

I'd say we got about 3-4" yesterday and it just started up again...anything to make up for that ice from last week would be great.

Spruce Peak Webcam. .

Weather Webcams | Weather Underground

Very cool link I came across! A map of webcams across the U.S. Finally someone with my idea made it happen.

Webcams showing snow covered roads in St. Albans, VT & Derby, VT. Snowy north, just wet roads farther south:

Euro12z 850 anomalies Tues-Wed-Thurs next week.

These are anomalies at the 4000 foot level, not temps. This level relates to the surface. Anomalies this far below in January is impressive stuff.

Get those Ice Skates ready for the lakes.

I mentioned Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday... Here's what the GFS shows for Saturday morning the 4th.

Looks like a cold period coming up. I have to check on some record numbers and put some together

I don't have the evidence to back this up but for some reason this winter so far seems to have gotten pretty cold early on...

Latest NAM18z model just out. Surface/850mb temp on left and 24hr snow total on right Sunday morning to Monday morning.

Nice swath of 7-12" from Central Vermont to Maine. Slight shifts of tracks and amount of precip always makes the difference. But this seems like a northern New England special storm.

I'll see if I can find anything. While we had a couple of warm ups I agree the arctic Highs have been dropping in with a punch and lasting longer than any warm up. Definitely not a warm type pattern with a south flow like other years.

Here's how the temp anomalies look since November 15th. I think Texas and northern Plains can make the case better than us regarding being one of the coldest starts in recent history but you are correct regarding a cold start. Below normal in VT.
