I actually think the temp has been dropping since this morning - I think we were high teens (at least by the house) and now it's at 13 or 14...tomorrow should be fun.

It's now -20°C 5000 feet over Vermont, hard for surface to warm up even with sun.

I can tell what kind of night it's going to be. lol . Winds are ripping and feels like single digits here during the day with clear skies.

2pm Wind Chills.

^Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if this were statistically true (or will be, any day now).
Last winter had paltry snowfall & absence of serious coldness.

Today was Brattleboro's 4th "proper" snowfall (only counting when it accumulates) since autumn, approx. 5".
T-square in photo is 30", the 25" mark = 5" (on left side are metric markings, 14 cm = 5.5 inches).

Spoiler

Ruler is upside down! Had to stare at it for a second then read the post. lol

As far as snow totals for the season...

Left is current... Right is entire last season..

Burlington is half way there. (NWS really needs more official stations in VT, come on)

Albany looks like the closest.

Actually Williamsport, PA has more this year then entire last season.

Drove from NYC back home this morning, left at 9am to hopefully get back in between the end of snow and before the freeze...made it! Rain throughout NY, CT and most of Mass...freezing rain as I got up towards the Barre/Montpelier area. Roads were still warm so driving was okay.

Nice timing! Had you left earlier you would of hit some heavy snow all the way I think. heard roads were bad because temps were in the 20s. Was an interesting storm but annoying to be honest. Hate these changeover storms. Luckily I got 4.5" before it did change to ice..

Here's my backyard on the 17th

Couple of images of the snowpack and depth from this morning.

Looks like 6-8" on the ground for southern and Eastern Vermont and nothing melted today with max temps in the teens & 20s so should be similar tomorrow morning..

Cold but sunny yesterday, sunny again today but should warm up into the 20s. Balmy.

Looks like Thursday is our next shot of snow. Hopefully help get rid of the crusty ice we have now!
