Mad River Glen Interactive Trail Map (Large)

this is just taking the long trail south from the app gap for maybe a little under an hour.

I'm driving to Vermont from Idaho next month. I'll only be there for a few days, but I can't wait to take some Vermont pictures!

I'd love to see the pictures from your drive... that's gotta be a beautiful drive through Montana and the Dakotas (the truly flatland in the middle doesn't interest me so much).

I live at the base of the Tetons, right on the Idaho/Wyoming border, so I go across Wyoming instead of Montana. It is beautiful, though, until you hit Nebraska. The flatland in the middle doesn't interest me, either. Being in the Midwest actually makes me grumpy. I drink lots of coffee and try to get through that part as quickly as possible.

What a gorgeous day! We lunched outdoors by the Ottauquechee River and walked trails and roads near Woodstock. Then we strolled into town and stopped at Gillingham's, a favorite grocery and general store. As you can see, the majordomo quickly took charge. She gave me a kiss on the forehead and reminded me we needed a new front doormat. (It says "Welcome" and has kitties marching all the way around the outside.) Way to guarantee customer loyalty!

Cute kitty!

We just did the cross-country drive...twice. Nebraska was the worst part of the trip. It made me grumpy too!

(new member here...hi!)

The prairie would be a lot more interesting if there were sitll massive herds of bison out there...but I agree, while there's some beauty to the flat areas, I need my mountains and trees...

I find the desert boring, too...but at least in most parts there are mountains and shrubs and cactus. Nebraska had corn stubble. Miles and miles and miles of corn stubble. It was like driving on the back of a large hairy giant. Only less interesting.

Bison would have been awesome!
