World of difference, eh? We had great weather today too. The higher elevations are bare now, but we still have some late color.

Carter Rd. Lowell

Cemetery Rd. Westfield

North Jay Rd. in North Troy looking at Owls Head in Quebec, last sunlight of the day

It gets dark kinda fast these days.

I took these shots of Lake Memphremagog this morning from Shattuck Hill in Derby. I was more than a little surprised at the remaining color. And no - there's no color enhancement here. Hal Buzzell used to own this hayfield. During his lifetime he had many offers to sell it but always refused. He placed his farm in the care of VT Land Trust so the view could always be enjoyed by those who pass by.

Wow! Gorgeous! It's a great thing he did in donating that land.

There's still some late color in Westfield on North Hill Rd. as of 10 18 2010. It seems I'm never here at the right time for good fall picture taking and the sun was in and out today - mostly in. For a stretch of about 2 miles these ancient sugar maples just line the road. It's a really nice area any time of year.

From a short hunting trip today (more like a hike than a hunt really)...the beavers have been busy. This is no creek, it's a trail flooded by the beavers, which was fairly dry 3 months ago when I was last there:

Dens/Lodges:

This doesn't really do justice for how large an area the beavers have flooded:

Latest tree to come down:
