Guns - Washington Times

It's no wonder the only people who have guns in DC are the criminals who cannot be monitored or traced by DC police.

"Well ya gotta make it hard to get guns or else criminals will be able to just walk into CVS and buy one!"

If ya got the balls, all you have to do is walk around SE DC and just start asking random strangers around the Metro. The seedier looking, the better.

Sooner or later, you might get "OK man, I know a guy.....and for a few bucks, I'll broker an intro...."

Sadly, for the most part, that is how folks who want a gun in DC will get one. Though they may skip the questioning of random strangers part.

I hear $400 cash will get you a cheap .25 caliber junk gun.

If I were to buy such a gun legally out of state, it would go for maybe $225.

Having more guns in DC solves no problems facing the District.

That is irrelevant.

It may not solve problems but having a handgun will make me sleep a little better at night. I really wish we could carry them, Shoot a few stick up kids.

I'm an obama voter but we do have the constitutional right to own firearms. I remember reading the heller case; I think there's a decent argument to be made even banning handguns (just not all firearms) as a restriction on gun ownership, but you can't make it impossible to purchase a firearm of any kind in the city. That anyone who has any knowledge of the 4th amendment should know and agree with.

If the 4th Amendment gives me the unfettered right to own "arms," I'll take a nuke. The amendment says nothing about guns.
