I think the problem is people are so used to hearing the word subtropical describing cities like Houston and LA that they can't except the fact that places that are quite cooler are in the same classification.

I agree. Although I can't find any common ground between LA and Amherstburg ON. Subtropical is a vague term that does little to define actual characteristics of any climate.

As mentioned on another thread, I don't think highland cities like Quito, La Paz and Addis Ababa in the tropics should be classified as subtropical. They should have their own climate classification as their climates are quite unique.

That's very true but I think they call "Highland Subtropical" I think someone should remake the Koppen map because of all the global warming and climate change. You see that the Cfa, Dfa transitional line will rise much farther north.

For the past 30 years versus the first 30 years of the 20th century there isn't much change, though there is a definite warming trend. For the projected global warming for the next century there is very significant change in this scenario. This link has some maps based on some of the current climate models.

Yeah I also read somewhere that in like 80 years The BC coast will have a subtropical to tropical climate and the prairie areas will become hot deserts. And some areas in the Saharan desert will become unliveable.

I agree with Trimac, Portland at least should be Mediterranean, not sure about Seattle.

I don't think Toulouse is really maritime either.

Toulouse can only be maritime if it doesn't have a Mediterranean rainfall pattern, or the temps of humid subtropical.
