Melbourne has no winter or summer. Just 1 season called comfortable. The entire year of Melbourne's weather fits into 2 months of NYC weather.
Here, summer highs average 31 C (88 F) and winter lows average -6.5 C (20 F). Now that's a hefty variation.
Brits, Aussies, Californians, and Floridians need to toughen up .
Americans need to toughen up with your high sunshine hours!
21C would be considered a warm winter day here. There's not a whole lot of variation in daytime max temperatures during the cooler season throughout Australia in general.
Melbourne hit a temperature of 46.4°C in February 2009 a temperature that NYC has never achieved. How you can say Melbourne lacks a summer is beyond me
NYC reached/exceeded 46.4C multiple times, via heat index.
Have you gone to Seattle or Pittsburgh. Kindly check out the sunshine hours there.
Seattle or Pittsburgh don't hold a candle compare to Europe's cloudy spots. Seattle is a sunny paradise compared to, say, Cologne. Not that this is something to brag about.
Oh Please Have you been to anywhere in Northern Europe?
My dad had been on a business trip to Ghent for a week in January, and told me that everyday was mild & gloomy. On average, the temperature range was Hi:43 Lo:30 and overcast with drizzle every single day.
I regularly transit through Brussels and Frankfurt while traveling to India, and notice that Brussels is usually mild and gloomy while Frankfurt has distinct seasons with greater amount of sunshine. In fact, I clearly remember Frankfurt am Main was -3 C in January and 31 C in July of 2010 while transiting, which seems a bit too extreme for West Germany .
I have no Idea why Frankfurt is not classified as humid continental, because the weather there is cold in the winter and warm in the summer.
